Dime out 4-5 weeks with broken finger

Dawgs will need to rely on Dickerson, Timmins and Atewe in Dime’s absence.

As the Huskies head to the Bay Area to face Cal and Stanford, they will be without senior forward Malik Dime.

Christian Caple of The Tacoma News Tribune reports that Dime suffered a broken pinkie on his right hand and will miss 4-5 weeks. Coach Lorenzo Romar indicated that it would be too painful for Dime to play through. Dime was injured late in the game against Oregon State Saturday.

Without Dime, you can expect freshman Sam Timmins and transfer Matthew Atewe to pick up the minutes in the forward’s absence. Also, Noah Dickerson will need to step up his play.

The JuCo transfer Dime has had a down year but has started 12 of the 15 UW games thus far. He also provides a shot-blocking presence as he leads the team with 39. Dime averages just 5.5 points per game but it’s his defense that the Huskies will miss while he’s out.

The Huskies next play Cal Thursday night at 6pm on FS1.
