The Huskies are ranked No. 8 in the new AP Poll that was released today, one spot behind division rival Stanford. Washington jumped from last week’s No. 12 preseason rating after easily handling Big Ten opponent Rutgers 48-13 in Saturday’s season opener. Their new ranking is the team’s highest since Rick Neuheisel’s squad that was ranked No. 8 during week nine of the 2001 season.
