The Associated Press released its preseason top 25 poll today, ranking the Huskies 14th. It marks Washington’s highest preseason ranking in the poll since the 2002 team that earned a preseason ranking of ninth; that year’s team finished the season unranked, but knocked off No. 3 Washington State in a wild triple-overtime Apple Cup at Martin Stadium.
Washington is the highest ranked team which finished 2015 unranked. Last 3 times UW entered season ranked, it finished unranked.— Chris Fallica (@chrisfallica) August 21, 2016
The other Pac-12 teams in the poll are No. 8 Stanford, No. 16 UCLA, No. 20 USC and No. 24 Oregon. Meanwhile, Utah and Washington State were listed among the other teams receiving votes.
