Washington Lands 3-star Wide Receiver Ty Jones

3-star Provo (Utah) receiver Ty Jones becomes the 7th commit of the 2017 class.

Student Sports

Late Tuesday night Washington coaches added another tall receiver prospect to their 2017 class in 3-star Provo WR Ty Jones (6'4", 190 lbs.), a former Utah pledge.

Jones originally committed to the Utes back in July of last year, but backed off of that pledge a couple of months ago to explore other options after a slew of new offers came in. Washington swooped in and quickly became one of Jones' leaders. Location and the upward trajectory of the program are what sold Ty on the Huskies. He loved the city of Seattle and was excited about the prospect of catching passes from a quarterback like Jake Browning.

Terrell Bynum promised Husky fans a new commitment by the end of the month and he delivered. Bush Hamdan deserves a lot of credit as well for turning around the Huskies' poor recruiting at the receiver position over the last couple of years. Jones becomes the 7th prospect of the class and the 3rd wide receiver pledge.

As a junior in 2015, Jones caught 53 passes for 989 yards and 14 touchdowns. For his outstanding season he was named first-team all-state by the Deseret News.
