Talia Walton scored 30 points and Chantel Osahor added 19 points and 17 boards to lead the Washington Huskies into the Elite Eight with a win over the Kentucky Wildcats, 85-72. It was the second straight victory over a higher-seeded appointment and another road victory. The Dawgs had control of the game from the first quarter on.
Kelsey Plum also added 23 points and 7 assists including a 3 pointer late to seal the victory.
The Elite Eight appearance is the first one since 2001 and the third in the history of the women's program.
Walton was unstoppable on the offensive end and Osahor's flat-footed 3 pointers were reminiscent of Sam Perkins.
Plum struggled early but found her groove later on. The only real blemish on her game was missing 4 free throws. Plum is a 90% free throw shooter.
Next up for the Dawgs is the winner of the Notre Dame/Stanford game Sunday morning at 10:00am.
