The past couple weeks have been rough for Washington, while the last couple months have been brutal for the Cougars.
Both teams will be particularly desperate for a win. The Huskies will want to send Andrew Andrews off with a victory following a rough 0-2 trip down to the state of Oregon. The team is also certainly aware that fans expect this to be a lopsided rivalry, and that falling to the Cougs at HecEd would be a particularly sour end to the regular season.
For WSU this is one last chance to break a 15-game regular season losing streak. It's also an opportunity to spoil a potential two-game sweep for the Huskies and build a little bit of confidence before the Pac-12 tournament.
It seems reasonable to expect a big night from Andrews in his final home game. It could also potentially be the last appearance at HecEd for Chriss and Murray, as both players will weigh their options before this year's NBA draft. Those players happen to be Washington's top three scorers, and Romar will once again lean heavily on the trio tonight. Here's hoping they put on a show.
The Cougs will hope for a big night from star forward Josh Hawkinson and look to take advantage of Washington's mediocre (constantly switching) defense and tendency to surrender offensive rebounds to pull off an upset.
