Long Beach St. vs. Washington Gamethread

49ers travel to Seattle to face the Huskies in the NIT First Round.

Kelvin Kuo-USA TODAY Sports

The Washington Huskies (18-14) take on the Long Beach State 49ers (20-14) in the First Round of the NIT at Alaska Airlines Arena Tuesday night.  The game will air live on ESPN2 at 6:00 p.m.

It's not the tournament that the Huskies wanted to be in but they continue to play basketball.  The Huskies are the #3 seed in this bracket playing the #6 seed from the Big West Conference.

Long Beach State, coached by Washington native Dan Monson, also had NCAA tournament hopes having won 20 games for the first time since the 2011-2012 season.  Despite losing to Hawaii in the Big West Tournament, LBSU has won 11 of its past 13 games. The Huskies will need to defend the 3 tonight as the 49ers are not shy about shooting the 3 having set the school record this year with 279.

It will be interesting to see if the Huskies will be up to play tonight against the 49ers after last week's disappointing loss to the Oregon Ducks in the Pac-12 Tournament.
