Washington reached into Southern California for some beef to add along the offensive line. Washington was able to fight off the likes of USC, UCLA, Nebraska, Duke, Utah, Cal, and Washington State for 4-star lineman Luke Wattenberg. Wattenberg is a bit media shy so interviews are hard to come by, but his father has said that Luke felt very comfortable with UW and the coaching staff while on an unofficial visit last Spring. Luke and his parents all loved the fact that Petersen puts as much if not greater emphasis on growing as a person in addition to growing as a football player. He is a true student-athlete with academics playing a major factor in his decision.

Wattenberg had a fantastic career playing for JSerra Catholic in San Juan Capistrano, the same school as Dante Pettis, culminating with an invite to play in the prestigious US Army All-America game. Luke says one of the best parts of his game is his pulling ability which Scout national recruiting analyst Greg Biggins agreed with saying:

He does a lot of pulling and shows the athleticism to not only take out a linebacker but to get down the field and make a block on a safety as well. He really finishes his blocks well and isn't content just getting in the way, he has the nastiness to put his man on his back.

Luke's senior highlights can be seen below:
