While Washington was always one of the schools doing well for 4-star ATH Byron Murphy, it was a bit of a surprise when the Saguaro H.S. (Scottsdale, AZ) decided to commit to the Huskies last month as most recruiting analysts had been hearing that Arizona State appeared to be in the lead. As the hometown school, the Sun Devils had a lot of appeal for Murphy and already had commitments from two of his buddies in N'Keal Harry and Chase Lucas. But his relationship with DB Coach Jimmy Lake had always been very strong, and after a careful night of deliberation before his announcement ceremony he decided Washington was where he wanted to be.
The Army All-American and consensus 4-star prospect will get his first shot as a CB for the Huskies, but he has the ability to be an impact player at WR too, so it will bear watching to see where he takes reps for Washington when he arrives this fall.
