Washington at Washington State - Open Thread

The Huskies travel to Pullman looking to secure a rivalry win and go 3-0 to start conference play.

Jennifer Buchanan-USA TODAY Sports

In what has already been a chaotic year in the Pac-12, the Huskies were pushed extremely hard in securing their first two conference wins over the LA schools. UCLA went into double overtime, while beating USC required a massive comeback fueled by Dejounte Murray.

Now the Huskies are traveling into a hostile road environment for the first time all season. For the freshmen making up the majority of the rotation, this will be an entirely new challenge.

For Washington State, this is an opportunity to prove that defeating the Bruins in Pullman was about more than a flat night for UCLA. Double-double machine Josh Hawkinson is the obvious star, but the Cougs appear to be deeper than in recent years. All three starting guards have been efficient offensive contributors, and Ernie Kent can bring both a 7-0 center and a 6-10 shot-blocking specialist in off the bench.

In my preview from yesterday evening I called for the Huskies to win by a margin of four points. I believe Vegas has the Cougs favored by one point.

Watch the game on Pac-12 Networks or listen at KOMO 1000AM and FM 97.7 and, of course, use this post as your open thread.

Enjoy the game and Go Dawgs!
