Just in case you thought things were about to settle down for the Husky Men's Basketball team with the new season just a few months away, think again:
#UWHuskies announce Quevyn Winters will not return to men's hoops team for '15-16 season for personal reasons.
— Tim Booth (@ByTimBooth) August 27, 2015
Winters is the latest in a huge exodus of players leaving the program since the end of last season, and his exit means the team will return only two scholarship players (Andrew Andrews & Donaven Dorsey). Four players have transferred (Nigel Williams-Goss, Jernard Jarreau, Darin Johnson and Gilles Dierickx) and two graduated (Shawn Kemp Jr, Mike Anderson). Sophomore post Robert Upshaw was dismissed from the team midway through last season.
He originally signed with Duquesne and played in all 30 games his first season (2012-13), averaging 9.3 ppg before deciding to transfer to Indian Hills CC. He was part of a loaded team there that reached the finals of the 2013-14 NJCAA National Tournament and then opted to transfer to Washington.
He appeared in 27 of the 31 games last year for the Huskies, averaging 3.4 ppg on just 29.7% shooting from the field.
Winters was going to be a senior this season, so his departure won't change the recruiting numbers for Lorenzo Romar.
