A tough blow for the Husky offensive line as their only returning full-time starter has announced his retirement.

Here's the press release from the UW Athletic Department:

Washington's Dexter Charles To Retire Due To Knee Injury SEATTLE - Washington offensive lineman Dexter Charles has retired from football due to a lingering knee injury, head coach Chris Petersen announced today.

Charles, who started 30 games over the last three seasons, mainly at left guard, was entering his fifth year at the UW. The Camano Island, Wash., product earned his bachelor's degree in anthropology last spring.

"We're all very disappointed that Dexter's injury won't allow him to continue to play," Petersen said. "I'm grateful for his dedication and hard work and very pleased that he earned his degree. He's interested in the coaching profession, and I wish him nothing but the best."

We obviously wish Dexter the best.
