Jennifer Yang Named Pac-12 Golfer Of The Month
Release: 04/01/2015

SAN FRANCISCO – Washington senior Jennifer Yang was named the Pac-12 Golfer of the Month for March after leading the Huskies to a pair of tournament titles and earning her first collegiate win.

Yang moved up to the No. 11 collegiate player in the country according to both the Golfweek and Golfstat rankings and is now the 77th-ranked female amateur on the world.

March was a big month for Yang, who broke through for her first collegiate win at the Bay Area Invite with a final round 68. To open the month, Yang finished tied for fifth at the Bruin/Wave Invitational. Yang finished that week at 7-over in tough conditions to help lead the Dawgs to their fifth team title of the season. The Huskies finished a nine stroke win over second-place UCLA. A difficult week where everyone was over par, Yang was consistent, opening with a 3-over 75, before an even-par second round and closing with a 4-over 76.

At the Bay Area Invite, Yang and the Huskies broke the school record with their sixth win of the season. Yang led the Dawgs for a second-straight week, this time winning the tournament title in a tie with Esther Lee of Colorado. She finished at 7-under 206, leading the Dawgs to a week of 18-under and a 24-stroke gap on the rest of the field. Yang opened with a 1-over 72, but then caught fire with rounds of 5-under 66 and 3-under 68 to chase down Lee over the final nine holes.

Yang becomes the third player the season to win Pac-12 Golfer of the Month, joining Bronte Law and Alison Lee of UCLA who have each won twice.

Washington remains the No. 1 ranked team in the country, entering their final tournament of the regular season, the PING/ASU Invitational on April 10-12.
