Washington CF Braden Bishop was yesterday recognized by the NCAA as one of their national Players of the Weekwhile teammate Noah Bremer was similarly recognized by the Pac 12 following a big week for Huskies baseball.
After posting a huge week which included the first two home runs of his playing career and smoking hot .933 slugging percentage, Braden, a junior CF won his recognition . Bishop has come out of nowhere early in this season after having hit just 14 extra base hits in his career prior. Always thought of as a solid defensive player, Bishop is now doing it as one of the Huskies key offensive contributors, recently manning the all-so-important 3-hole in the Huskies lineup. For the season, Bishop is hitting over .400 and leads the team in both runs scored and total bases.
Bremer was recognized as the Pac 12 Pitcher of the Week after he pulled off a one-hitter in UW's victory over North Dakota last Sunday. The freshman starter was near perfect in his outing as he took a no-hitter into the seventh. It was his second appearance of the week. He finished the week having surrendered just two hits over 11 innings of work with no runs and six strikeouts.
After having lost three out of four in the Big 12 / Pac 12 Challenge, the Huskies came back strong last week in posting a 4-1 record against Portland and North Dakota. UW returns to the diamond this weekend against Pepperdine before taking on Seattle in a one-game set next Tuesday.
