Washington Huskies vs. Stanford Cardinal Open Game Thread

The Huskies attempt to advance past the 1st round of the Pac-12 Tournament by besting Stanford.

Washington Huskies (16-14) vs. Stanford Cardinal (18-12), Wednesday 8:30pm, Pac-12 Networks.

A few days ago it looked almost inevitable that the Huskies would exit the Pac-12 tournament early. Coach Romar's squad had just lost in depressing fashion to USC, UCLA, and Colorado, and had long since cemented their position near the bottom of the Pac-12 standings.

Then Senior Night happened. Washington knocked off top-15 Utah in a wonderful send off for seniors Mike Anderson and Shawn Kemp Jr. (stuck on the bench due to a calf injury), driven by NWG's scoring, surprisingly tough play from Gilles Dierickx, and the shooting of Anderson and Jarreau.

Now the Pac-12 tournament begins with a game against a Stanford team that has been reeling for the past few weeks. Even if the performance against Utah will be hard to replicate, driven as it was by the emotion of the night and unsustainably hot shooting, this is a less daunting opponent.

Here's hoping the Huskies continue to surprise and fight on to the second round of the tourney, which would mean playing Utah tomorrow evening.

Enjoy the game and Go Dawgs!
