4 Star CB Austin Joyner is a Husky

The Austin Joyner recruiting saga is over, and he's a Dawg.

Height: 5'10''

Weight: 190

Rankings: 4* #29 CB by Scout, 4* #24 CB by 247

Austin Joyner initially committed to UW when Steve Sarkisian was still captaining the ship, but flipped to Washington State when somebody got into his ear about playing defense, and Mike Leach was quick to offer him that opportunity -- because no four star running back in their right mind would want to play in Leach's offense. Joyner verballed to WSU, while the Husky coaches wanted to take their time in evaluating Joyner at corner.

While Joyner is committed as a corner, and has been told that's where he'll be given an opportunity to compete, the sneaking suspicion is that if it doesn't work out there -- and quickly -- he'll be moved to what is viewed as his best position: running back. It's a similar situation to what happened with Kaleb McGary a year ago: started where he wanted to play (defensive end) and got moved to where the coaches ultimately see him (offensive tackle).
