The Huskies need RB depth as their 2014 recruiting class was sorely lacking at the position, and they were unable to find a #1 running back on the roster last season. Gaskin is a nice fit in that he's a different type of back that what UW currently has on their roster, and is also talented enough to contribute immediately if called upon to do so. His limiting factor will be that he needs to put on some weight to be able to hold up for the course of a full season at the major college football level, but if he ends up becoming the guy it likely wouldn't be for at least a couple of years down the road, so he has time.
Gaskin is a smooth runner who hits a hole quickly, gets through it, and is a one-cut-and-go type of back. With the UW running back position never really getting claimed by any of the candidates in 2014, it's entirely possible that Gaskin could see action as a true freshman.
