Watching college football this weekend ought to be a treat for Husky fans who are still glowing knowing that they already have a big win in the pocket.
The full slate of college football games this weekend isn't necessarily too compelling based on "Top 25" matchups, but there are plenty of interesting games. Here are a few things I'll be watching for.
- Navy is traveling to Notre Dame today in a game that might turn out to be more difficult for the Irish than you'd expect. The Midshipmen have won 10 of their last 11 dating back to last year and are led out of their triple option by senior QB Keenan Reynolds. Don't discount the disruption to the Irish due to all of their injuries. Navy always plays ND tough and I expect them to do so today.
- How about an undefeated Northwestern team taking on the suddenly resurgent Michigan team? This promises to be a slobberknocker kind of Big 10 game that will feature two of the best defensive teams in the nation. I expect a 6-3 kind of game. I'm kind of serious.
- Looking for an upset pick? I like Tennessee to upset Georgia in Knoxville today. Something isn't really connecting for me with the Bulldogs and I think that this Volunteer team has some extra motivation in a season that has not lived up to expectations.
- There a number of P12 games that will be of interest to Husky fans this weekend. I covered my picks for those right here. Among them is the WSU @ Oregon matchup that I think will be uncomfortably close for Mark Helfrich and the Cal @ Utah game that matches the two remaining undefeated teams in the PAC. You've all heard my take on that one - I'm going with the team with the better QB to pull the upset.
Enjoy College Football today, Dawg fans. This is your open thread.
