History
These two teams have only played once, on a fateful day back in 2011, where, though the Huskies were embarrassed, at least they didn't lose. Back then the Eagles were coming off a championship season, and had high hopes for the season to come.
Running back Chris Polk was only 2 weeks removed from arthroscopic knee surgery (something I had completely forgotten), and yet he managed to amass 125 yards on 25 carries. His running, along with the decent showing from the offense proved to be just enough. I finished that game with an ulcer and acid reflux for a week. Unfortunately, Nick Holt was the coordinator, so I had reflux the remainder of the season.
Thanks to a lucky timely interception by Desmond Trufant on the last play of the game, finally sealing the victory for the Dawgs: 30-27.

What They're Saying
No insults intended; this is really just some game week fun ... so have a laugh. These quotes were removed from any relevant context that would give them any logical sense .... These quotes are courtesy of The Red Zone:
Score Predictions ...
Eags 45 - UW 34 ...Watching the UW v. Hawaii game was no help in understanding the Huskies. For me, the apparent UW dysfunction was enough to say go Eags.
My prediction is 48- 42, Eagles. The glasses are tinted red with this prediction.
I'm not sure who wins yet, but they win by 3.
I don't make predictions, but the dawgs should win by 10.
UW 48 EWU 24
On the Talent Gap between the Teams:
The Eags will possess the mental edge, if not a physical one ...
Last time they played EWU outgained the Huskies something like 400-250 but they athletes the Udub has now are way, way better than what they had back in 2011.
On the Eagle's Offensive Strategy:
I think we have to stick to what WE do well, which means spreading the field out as much as possible with our talent at WR and once that get's going try to get some quick hitters with Forte out of the backfield once those running lanes open up some.
We'll take our chances early and often with deep passes, and we'll try to keep the opposing offense in front of us but we'll give up a couple really big plays. Although I like our stable of running backs, we have to stick with Vernon, Kupp, and the rest of our talented receivers.
Questions Needing Answers
Offense:
Will there be one?
Defense:
Can the Husky Secondary contain Eastern's passing attack? Will they be able to hold the Eagles to less than 30 points? Will the linebackers play like linebackers?
Miscellaneous:
How are the Huskies going look? What will Coach Pete be wearing on his head? Can we get a kickoff or punt return taken to the house?
Conclusion
I'm still suffering from last week's game. My stomach has been in knots all week, and it has gotten progressively worse with each passing day. I feel like we have the athletes on both sides of the ball to make this game a comfortable win ... but my gut is telling me something else.
In all reality I just want to get this game over with, with a nice big W, so I can relieve my gastroentinal symptoms. I wouldn't be surprised if I went to the doctor and he diagnosed me with Krohn's disease ...

Gamethread
Come on over to the game thread to have a little bit of jovial banter with fellow Dawg fans, and the occasional troll, or New Mexico State Aggies fan .... You'll be happy you did. It opens up a half hour or so before kickoff.
