How to Watch and Listen to the Huskies: Audio Stream - TuneIn;

History

The Huskies lead the Cardinal in this series 41-39-4. Last year's game was exciting and excruciatingly frustrating all at the same time, as the Huskies really lost the game because of their less-than-stellar play on special teams, and inability to cover some guy named Ty. They gave up a whopping 211 yards on 5 kickoffs, for a nice, neat average of 42.2 yards per return ... forgettable as any performance in recent history. Let's hope this year's emphasis on special teams makes forgetting that performance an easy thing to accomplish.

Numbers

0 - The combined number of touchdowns Stanford has allowed in the final three quarters of each game this season

1 - The number of TD's Stanford has allowed in the first quarter this season so far

10 - The total number of times Stanford has had a third down with 7 or more yards to go for the first down

-4 - The total number of rushing yards the Huskies have allowed on third down this year

20 - The total number of 3rd down snaps Stanford has had this year

34 - The percentage of times the Huskies allow opposing defenses to convert on third down and their opponents pass the ball

82 - The percentage of the time Stanford gets a first down before they get to third down

45 - The number of bottles of Pepto I've consumed while watching the Huskies play this season (I rounded down ...)

66 - The average number of yards the Cardinal is giving up through the air per game

138 - The average number of yards Stanford is giving up on the ground per game

161 - The average number of offensive yards the Cardinal gave up in their 2 wins this year

204 - The average number of offensive yards Stanford has given up in all its games this year

What They're Saying

No insults intended; this is really just some game week fun ... so have a laugh. These quotes were removed from any relevant context that would give them any logical sense .... These quotes are courtesy of well, nobody this week. Nobody seems to comment much on any of the boards ... you're better off going here, for more intellectual stimulation.

Questions Needing Answers

Offense:

Is this the first week a Husky QB throws an interceptions? What will the pass protection look like against the Cardinal front 7? Will Kasen Williams continue to look better? Which running back will bust the longest run?

Defense:

How many sacks will Shelton and Kikaha combine for? Will Sydney Jones get another forced fumble, for his 4th game in a row? Can we please stop Ty Montgomery?

Miscellaneous:

Is this the game we switch sides? Will the special teams look better against the Cardinal this year ... (this won't be very difficult to pull off)? Who would win in a mascot fight: Dubs of that funky looking tree thing?

Conclusion

I am hoping the Huskies play much better, for the entire game, against Stanford. Everyone knows how we've looked up to this point, and I for one, would not mind seeing some better play in all phases of the game. This week will definitely be a stiff test for the Huskies, but here's a Husky fan that thinks Mr. Shaw will see some big regression this season, starting with this game against the Dawgs.

Look for the Huskies to load the box this game, at least that's what I would do, to stop the run. I expect a chippy game, and I'm pretty sure that, at least by the end of the game, the back of Coach Petersen's neck will be purple.

Come on over to the game thread to have a little bit of jovial banter with fellow Dawg fans, and the occasional troll, or New Mexico State Aggies fan .... You'll be happy you did. It opens up a half hour or so before kickoff.
