The University of Washington and Gonzaga men's basketball teams will begin a four-game series starting in the 2016-17 season, both schools announced Monday afternoon.
The two school will alternate on-campus games, with the site of the first game still to be determined.
"This series is great for the fans of our state," head coach Lorenzo Romar told GoHuskies.com
The two schools have met 43 times since they first played in 1910, but haven't played each other since December 2006.The last meeting between the two schoos saw the Zags run away with a 97-77 win. A young Spencer Hawes poured in 20 points for the Huskies. Point guard Derek Raivio led Gonzaga with 25 points.
"The fans have shown that they really appreciate the game with Washington and Gonzaga," Romar told GoHuskies.com. "...There's a lot of enthusiasm and hype centered around the game."
