NCAA Baseball Tournament: Washington vs Georgia Tech

The 2 seed Huskies begin their march through the Oxford regional today.

UW Baseball

The Huskies are set to take on the Yellow Jackets as the baseball postseason gets underway. Taking the mound for the Huskies will be their Golden Spikes candidate Tyler Davis. Davis has been mostly unhittable all year, posting a 10-2 record on the back of a 1.75 ERA.

The weather in Oxford has been spotty all week and is expected to be throughout the weekend as well, with rain and lightning having high chances of occurence. Don't be surprised at all if games are delayed and pushed back.

It's a four team double elimination round at this point, with the winner of the UW/Georgia Tech game playing the winner of the Ole Miss/Jacksonville State game which will (hopefully) be played later today. Likewise, the losers will face off in what will be an elimination game. A win puts the Huskies in a fantastic position to advance to the Super Regional, just as a loss makes it that much harder of a path to get there, so it's no mystery why the Dawgs are opting to go with their ace on the mound in the opener rather than potentially save him for the top seeded Rebels or an elimination game. The strategy is to come out guns-a-blazin'.

The game will be broadcast on ESPN3, starting at 1:00 pm Pacific time.
