Huskies Lose Out On Local Product

The Huskies missed the chance to land four-star point guard Ahmaad Rorie, as the Lincoln H.S. product announced Thursday he will play his college ball at the University of Oregon.

Class of 2014 point guard and Lincoln H.S. (Tacoma) product Ahmaad Rorie announced  on Thursday morning he will Not continue his basketball career with Lorenzo Romar and the Huskies and will instead play his college ball with Dana Altman and the Oregon Ducks.

Rorie had originally signed with California but was released from his LOI earlier this month after Mike Montgomery retired and the Golden Bears hired Cuonzo Martin. Besides Oregon, Rorie had drawn interest from UW, Washington State, Wichita State, and Missouri since decommitting from Cal.

With the loss of guards Dominic Artis, Damyean Dotson, and Brandon Austin due to the rape investigation, Rorie should be able to compete for immediate playing time. He will be joined in the backcourt by fellow freshman JaQuan Lyle, rated a five-star prospect by Scout.

Rorie is rated a four-star prospect by Scout and a three-star by ESPN. He is considered the third best prospect in Washington by ESPN.
