After a brief courtship by UW, Johnny Zuppardo has committed to Mississippi State. Zuppardo received an offer from Lorenzo Romar only yesterday (April 15), and was scheduled to visit UW on April 18, but that visit is presumably cancelled with the news that he is now the incorrect canine.

Zuppardo was looked at as insurance in the scenario that Jernard Jarreau is not 100 percent back to his full abilities following his ACL surgery recovery. He would have provided an inside-out post presence with a great three-point shot and low-post abilities.

This is a little bit of a bummer for UW, as Zuppardo would have been a good fourth big man in rotation with Jarreau, Shawn Kemp Jr. and Robert Upshaw (if he plays).

This news came out as I was working on an article on who could take the last 2014-2015 scholarship spot for the Huskies, now we know that it won't be this guy. Quevyn Winters, a UW verbal, is expected to sign with the Huskies today, and he would officially be the 12th scholarship player out of a possible 13.
