To anybody who watched him play, Marcus Peters was clearly one of the best corners in the country in 2013. His 2013 season was as good a season a UW corner has had since.... I don't even remember when, and yes, that includes former first round pick Desmond Trufant. And Peters was just a sophomore.
Peters did everything for the Huskies this past year, which is often difficult to do from the corner position. He intercepted five passes, got one sack, and had 55 tackles. Big plays in the run game? How about a tackle for a loss on 3rd and 1 in the 4th quarter against Stanford. Against big time wideouts? How about a 2 INT game against OSU and the 2013 Biletnikoff award winner Brandon Cooks.
Heading into 2014, Marcus Peters won't be a preseason All-American because Washington doesn't have enough "hype" heading into the year, plays on the wrong coast, isn't a media darling, and he was overshadowed by the offensive players this year. But we'll know. And when the rest of the nation catches on, we can tell them it's about time.
