Having a steady supply of talented Quarterbacks in the pipeline is an important component in building a consistently successful program. Coach Sarkisian loaded up in recent years with 4-star talents like Cyler Miles, Jeff Lindquist and Troy Williams, and today Coach Petersen added to the list as K.J. Carta-Samuels made his decision public:

Carta-Samuels had been a long-time commit to Vanderbilt where his older brother had transferred and just finished his playing career, but with the recent defection of head coach James Franklin to Penn State, he

decided to re-open his recruitment. It had somewhat ironically come down to a battle between Petersen's current school (Washington) and his former school (Boise State), and after officially visiting the UW this past weekend and then immediately following that up with a trip to Boise, he made his decision known today.
He and his family have been reported to be very academically focused, so it was not a surprise that he ended up choosing Washington despite what could have been a quicker path to playing time with the Broncos.
Carta-Samuels is an athletic but somewhat raw prospect, playing in a run-heavy offense in high school. He has a very strong arm and moves well but will need work refining his release and accuracy. He is solidly built at 6'2", 224 lbs.
