Washington Opponent's Record: 5-4
Record this Week: 5-4
Record in Games that Mattered: 5-4
Most of the teams did exactly what most people thought. UCLA went above and beyond my expectations, and the Beavers once again had an awful opener against an FCS team.
Games that mattered
Boise State (0-1) @ UW (1-0)
Here's the highlights from QBSacker ... I love that guy
Southern Illinois (0-1) @ Illinois (1-0)
This game ended up being much closer than it should have been. But the Fighting Illini kept finding ways to keep SIU in the game. Final score: Illini Win 42-34
Northern Arizona (0-1) at Arizona (1-0)
This game was never really close, with Arizona, once again, rolling over Northern Arizona, this time the Defense was able to post a shutout. Final score: Arizona wins 35-0.
Nicholls State (0-1) at Oregon (1-0)
This was once again another classy game from the Quackers. Not only did they run all over Nicholls State, one of theirs players was ejected from the game for targeting a sliding QB. Way to go! Final score: Oregon wins 66-3.
Northwestern (1-0) @ Cal (0-1)
The general thought with this game was that no one really knew what to expect from Cal. They had lots of talent, but were starting a freshman at QB. Well, they gave a depleted Northwestern squad a run for their money, and looked far from the deflated version of the Tedford Bears. Final score: Northwestern wins 44-30.
Colorado State (0-1) & Colorado (1-0)
This was the much anticipated Rocky Mountain Showdown ... well, not really. Ticket sales for the game were down, and the local sports guys almost unanimously agreed that the game should be moved away from Mile High at Sports Authority Field, and just switch back and forth between the two campuses. This wasn't exactly a game for the ages, but it was exciting. Final score: Colorado wins 41-27
Nevada (0-1) @ UCLA (1-0)
This game was supposed to be much closer. It wasn't, and UCLA continues its impressive play from last year. Circle the calendar for Friday, November 15th. It's going to be a good game. The Bruins walked all over the Wolfpack. Final score: UCLA wins 58-20.
Eastern Washington (1-0) @ Oregon State (0-1)
Oh Beavers ... losing to an FCS team 2 out of three years is quite the record. The offenses were clicking on all cylinders, but both defenses were having a water balloon fight. Final score: Eastern Washington wins 49-46.
Washington State (0-1) at Auburn (1-0)
There were no reported zombie sightings at this game. Wazzu had a chance to win it ... well, I think they had several ... but just couldn't get it done. Most Cougar fans blame Connor Halliday. I, however, know the real reason. They lost because they are Washington State. Once again they Couged it. Final score: Auburn wins 31-24.
