Game Preview and TV Schedule: Idaho State at Washington

The Idaho State Bengals are coming to town, fresh off a 2-0 start. They've posted some pretty lopsided victories against two sub-par FCS opponents.

History

This is the first meeting between the two teams. I was reading the game notes, which can be found here, and I couldn't help but laugh at the fact that even though this is a game between the Huskies and Idaho State, the only thing the University could come up with was the Husky record against the University of Idaho and Boise state. I should mention, just for fun, that the state of Idaho has only won three games against the University of Washington in 42 tries.

Numbers

0 - The number of rushing touchdowns the Bengals have allowed this year

3 - The number of sacks Idaho State has given up this year in 2 games

3.7 - Idaho State's average yards per rush

8.9 - Idaho State's average yards per pass

23.4 - Idaho State's average yards per kickoff return

118.5 Idaho State's average total rushing yards per game

484 - Idaho State's average total passing yards per game

What They're Saying

No insults intended; this is really just some gameweek fun ... so have a laugh. These quotes were removed from their context on purpose.

After playing a team like Washington, the game slows down. No one in the Big Sky Conference plays as fast as the Huskies, so league games will be slow compared to Washington ... The biggest growth in his program will occur on the flight home from Seattle - Idaho State Coach Mike Kramer

I enjoyed this forum. One of the fans posed the usual "what are the chances ISU upsets UW?" The responses were quite entertaining.

I wouldn't give up hope so fast. Washington struggled to beat Eastern last year ... Besides, you know they are looking ahead to conference play..sounds like the recipe for an upset.

The solution is simple get push up the middle and heat from the edge. If we can do that we'll be right in this!

... And for the finale ...

Questions needing answers

I don't have a ton of questions this game. I really just hope that no one from either team gets injured. The biggest question for me is for ASJ. Idaho State doesn't have the athletes to compete with him in the middle. But, is he going to look less like a headless chicken this week? I also can't help but wonder if someone is going to take the ball to the house on a return. Either way, the game looks to be a complete blowout. At the same time, it was really a no-brainer for Idaho State to take the game, since they stand to make $450,000 just for showing up.
