Mid Week Debate: National Champion

Alabama returns as the two time defending champion, and owns 3 of the last 4 crystal balls. The state of Alabama owns all of the last 4 with Auburn getting the other. Will somebody be able to break the stranglehold held by the Yellowhammer State?

Matthew Stockman

The 2013 college football season is nearly upon us. Thank god. So, as we head into the season, who is your pick to take home the final BCS championship?

As a reminder, here's how the top 25 stacks up right now. Also remember that just 3 times in the BCS era has the preseason #1 gone on to win the national title (Florida State in 2009, USC in 2004 and Alabama in 2012).

1 Alabama (58)
2 Ohio State (1)
3 Oregon
4 Stanford
5 Georgia (1)
6 South Carolina
7 Texas A&M
8 Clemson
9 Louisville
10 Florida
11 Florida State
12 LSU
13 Oklahoma State
14 Notre Dame
15 Texas
16 Oklahoma
17 Michigan
18 Nebraska
19 Boise State
20 TCU
21 UCLA
22 Northwestern
23 Wisconsin
24 USC
25 Oregon State

And here are some of Vegas' odds on the BCS championship winner:

Alabama 5/2
Ohio State 6/1
Oregon 17/2
Georgia 16/1
Louisville 16/1
LSU 16/1
Stanford 16/1
Texas A&M 18/1
Clemson 20/1
Florida State 20/1
South Carolina 20/1
Texas 20/1
Florida 25/1
Miami 33/1
Michigan 33/1
Nebraska 40/1
Oklahoma 40/1
Oklahoma State 40/1
USC 40/1
Notre Dame 50/1
UCLA 50/1

Who do you like straight up to win the championship? Who is a potential darkhorse? Which team looks like a good value bet?
