UW lands their first 2014 commit right before the July recruiting storm...

  • If you missed the news, the Huskies landed 2014 forward Tristan Etienne on July 4th. We'll use these weekly recruiting roundups to get you caught up on Etienne's AAU season and overall development. Here is a dunk highlight of Etienne from an AAU tournament this past weekend at Bellevue College.
  • The annual NW Premier Summer Showcase takes place from July 12-July 14 this weekend at Bellevue College. Several of the top local AAU teams and players will be participating in the tournament including Etienne and Drive Elite from Canada. I will try my best to make it out to a few games and report back to you all next week.
  • UW recruit Derryck Thornton was named the "Best playmaker" at the Under Armour "Undeniable Camp" in Inglewood, Calif. last week.

Thornton came into this camp on a mission and took a no-prisoners approach with each matchup. The savvy youngster dropped off a number of high-level assists, including a few left-handed, no-look passes. (Via: ESPN Insider)

  • ESPN's Joel Francisco also pegged UW target Evan Fitzner (Forward, 2014) as a long and skilled player after seeing him at the Under Armour camp.
  • Malik Pope (Forward, 2014) cut his list down to nine school with Washington making the cut. Kansas, Arizona, UCLA, USC, San Diego St., Oregon, Gonzaga and Cal are the other eight schools on his list.
