Jim Mora to stay with UCLA, declines position as UW head coach, per CBS Sports

After taking a night to mull it over, Jim Mora decided the best place for him was UCLA, and the UW coaching search continues.

The search goes on. Jim Mora has turned down the offer to take over as head coach of the Washington Huskies (via Bruce Feldman of CBS):

UPDATE: Mora received a shiny new contract and raises for his assistants.

The position, recently vacated by Steve Sarkisian for him to "go home to USC," is one that Mora (probably in jest) referred to as his dream job in 2006. He has refuted that, but "Many a true word spoken in jest."

It doesn't matter at this point, however, as Mora has elected that UW is no longer his dream job and will be battling Sarkisian for control of LA for the foreseeable future.

Anthony went over the potential implications of Mora being hired. Give it a read, even if it isn't going to happen.

Now, Athletic Director Scott Woodward will turn to Doug Nussmeier, reported as the other half of the top two candidates for the position. Other candidates include Gary Pinkel of Missouri, James Franklin of Vanderbilt and probably more.

An interesting story about Pinkel was that earlier today he was in the middle of his press conference and then was asked about him and the head coaching vacancy at Washington. "This press conference is over," he responded.

Stay tuned here at the Dawg Pound, we will have more as the head coaching search goes along. UW still has a bowl game to play. It is yet to be determined who will be running the show if there is not a head coach in place by that time (doubtful).
