Huskies escape Hartford in non-conference finale

The Huskies beat the Hartford Hawks 73-67 on Sunday evening.

The Washington Huskies finished its non-conference schedule with a win on Sunday evening, beating the Hartford Hawks 73-67 at Alaska Airlines Arena.

Senior guard C.J. Wilcox led the Huskies with 23 points and a 4-of-8 shooting performance from beyond the arc. Sophomore guard Andrew Andrews also added 19 points for the Huskies.

Hartford and Washington were tied at 51-51 with just under eight minutes left in the second half. Neither team was able to seize control of the game until a Hartford technical foul by Corban Wroe led to three free throws and possession for Washington, giving the Huskies a 61-57 lead.

Washington finished the non-conference portion of their schedule with an 8-5 record. The team was not able to pull off any upsets against marquee competition like No. 10 UConn, No. 24 San Diego St. and Indiana. The Huskies face Arizona St. next Thursday to open up Pac-12 play.
