Austin Joyner Commits to Washington

One of the top players in the state of Washington for 2015 has elected to stay home to play his college ball

Richard Mackson-USA TODAY Sports

Austin Joyner is an all purpose tailback, and a huge target for the Huskies in 2015. Out of Marysviille-Pilchuck, he's a 5-11 190 or so pounded whose recruiting was probably set to really pick up in the summer and into his senior year. He has rushed for 3341 yards and 41 touchdowns in his high school career so far.

He is rated by scout as a 4 star player and the #31 running back in the 2015 class. 247 has him as a 4 star, #4 all purpose back, #3 player in Washington, and #171 player overall for his class. Rivals also gives him 4 stars.

It's also possible that Joyner ends up on the defensive side of the ball, but that likely depends on how the Huskies do with their other targets for both the 2014 and 2015 classes. For now, expect him on offense.

For the crowd that bemoans this staff's lack of ability to keep the big names in state home, this is a bone thrown in that direction. By the time all is said and done, Joyner may be the biggest target of next year's bunch. The Huskies now have (according to 247) commitments from 2 of the top 5 Washington high schoolers for the 2015 class, with offensive tackle Trey Adams being the other.
