Husky Game Awards: Arizona State

There were a lot of punts, a lot of bad football from the Huskies, Marcus Peters was good, but WTF this game...

One of few players worthy of wearing the Purple and the Gold on Saturday.

Player of the Game: Marcus Peters. Peters was the lone bright spot in a sea of shit yesterday. He held ASU's best WR, Jaelen Strong, to 3 catches for just 7 yards after averaging over 100 yards per game coming into Saturday's contest. Peters also picked off a pass, and if there's a discussion about who UW's best player is, Peters's name should probably be at the top of that list.

Goat of the Game: The offensive line. Couldn't protect, couldn't open a hole, couldn't do anything. What had been such a problem a year ago and had seemed to turned things around and become at least serviceable is back to square one. Dexter Charles did not play, but an injury to one interior lineman does not explain that performance. It's inexplicable how the wheels can come off that quickly and an OL that had helped to power the nation's leading rusher coming into Saturday could suddenly do not a damn thing.

Who Stepped Up: Travis Coons stepped up, and punted. Then he stepped up and punted again. Then he stepped up and punted again. Then he stepped up and punted again. Then he stepped up and punted again. Then he stepped up and punted again. Then he stepped up and punted again. Then he stepped up and punted again. Then he stepped up and punted again. Then he stepped up and punted again. Then he stepped up and punted again. 11 punts. He had punted just 24 times in the 6 games prior. His punts went an average of almost 47 yards and had a long of 61 and none of them got blocked which seems like it defies the odds and we are talking about the punter in a recap so who really cares.

The Game Tipped When: After scoring a touchdown on their first drive of the game, the Husky offense proceeded to have drives of: Punt, Punt, Punt, Punt, Punt, Punt, Punt, End of Half to sink to a new low for first half performances this year.

It Was Over When: Arizona State outscored the Huskies 26-0 in the second quarter.

Surprise of the Game: How the Huskies could completely shit the bed in a must win game.

WTF Moment of the Game: The Game.
