Tonight on ESPN Washington will play basketball. They will play basketball against a team that is considered to be the eight-best team in the country, the Arizona Wildcats. The Wildcats are led by Sean Miller, who is in his fourth season leading Arizona after a successful (120-47) five-year run at Xavier. This is his best team yet, and it is a very experienced team.
The number one player to watch for Arizona is senior forward Solomon Hill. Hill garners more time on the court than any other Wildcat, and for good reason. He is an all-around threat offensively. He can shoot, drive and pass. He is a strong rebounder, 0.2 rebounds per game away from being the team leader in that category. Hill is, again, the best player on Arizona.
Scoring-wise, points get put up by a variety of players, but the leading scorer for UA is also the primary ball-handler, senior Mark Lyons, formerly of Xavier. Lyons was recruited to Xavier by current Wildcats coach Miller, and after a tumultuous several years there, he left/was kicked out/who really knows. Lyons is the team's best passer, leading the team in assists. He assists on over one-fifth of Arizona baskets when he is on the floor.
Another player to look out for scoring the basketball is sophomore Nick Johnson. He is the third-leading scorer among the Wildcats, and he contributes in every facet of the game, even if it isn't quite to the level of Hill.
Another starter is former Washington recruiting target Brandon Ashley, a 6-8 freshman forward. He is very adept at getting to the free throw line, along with being tied for the team lead in rebounding.
