Watching WSU lose...it never gets old

Presswire

I thought it would be different with Mike Leach in charge and maybe it will be....but not immediately as WSU was humiliated 30-6 on national television in Provo last night by a well prepared BYU squad.

QB Jeff Tuel was 30 for 45 passing for 229 yards for WSU, but never really had time to create anything down field because he spent most of the evening running for his life while his receivers were covered. A couple of interceptions and holding penalties didn't help him either but the real culprit was an offensive line that was woefully overmatched by the BYU defense.

Air Leach only mustered 224 yards total offense, with the running game held to an embarrassing minus-5 yards while the BYU offense pounded the timid Coug defense at will for 426 yards of total offense. Don't worry Cougfans...basketball season is just around the corner!

In other Pac 12 action last night Arizona State pounded Northern Arizona 63-6 in Todd Graham's debut as coach of the Sun Devils. UCLA was solid on the road in beating Rice 49-24. Utah had no problem putting away Northern Colorado 41-0 at home.
