The Monday Morning Wash

Washington begins four weeks of spring football practices this morning at 8:00 AM. The goal on the offensive side of the ball is to find a replacement for Chris Polk and call on some depth on the offensive line to fill in for the absences of Kohler, Tanigawa, and Porter this spring because of injury.

Defensively the Huskies are starting from scratch with a rebuilt coaching staff led (DC) Josh Wilcox, (DL) Tosh Lupoi, (LB) Peter Sirmon, and (DB) Keith Hayward. Cort Dennison who was the leader of last years defense needs to be replaced at linebacker.

Only two of the practices will be open this year to the public because of space limitations and safety concerns due to the ongoing construction at Husky Stadium. One of those practices will be a scrimmage held at Memorial Stadium during the third week and the other opportunity will be the spring game which concludes the spring session.

Cleaning House

Tim Tucker and Johri Fogerson aren't on the roster this spring. Tucker was dismissed from the squad for violation team rules. Fogerson still hasn't recovered fully from assorted injuries that have happened the past two seasons. Johri will have enough credits to graduate this spring and could opt to play a final season somewhere else if healthy.

Husky Rowers Coast by Brown

Defending National Champion Washington knocks off Ivy League power Brown on the Montlake Cut to open the 2012 Rowing season. The top ranked Huskies won all five races by a wide margin on a rainy and choppy day on the cut.

Terrance Ross declares for NBA Draft

Not a lot of surprise here....thanks for the memories Terrance. Ross is a big time talent who will be missed. The spotlight now passes to Tony Wroten who just may decide to stick around another year to take his game to the next level.

Barry Bullard Passes

Barry was part of Jim Owens first recruiting class at Washington. Barry and his younger brother Tim were big time contributors at the line of scrimmage for the Rose Bowl teams of the early 1960's.

ASU's Lisa Love gets the axe

Not a lot of surprise here since the inmates have supposedly taken over the asylum in Tempe after the late season collapse and firing of Dennis Erickson. Steve Patterson who assisted her in the search and eventual hire of Todd Graham will take over as the new AD.

Ryan Leaf in jail again

Ryan Leaf was arrested for burglary in his hometown of Great Fall, Montana. This is the second time that he has been arrested for burglary. This guy is a real knucklehead.
