Huskies travel cross town to play Seattle U

New, 11 comments

Washington visits Key Arena tonight to play cross town rival Seattle U. on their home court for the first time in over thirty years. The Redhawks have struggled this season under second year coach Cameron Dollar. After two consecutive winning seasons this years team has fallen to 10-16. On the bright side two of those wins were against Virginia and Oregon State.

The Redhawks are competitive with just about every team they play with. They just haven't turned enough of those close contests into wins. The biggest problem SU has is that they are young and they don't shoot very well. Sometimes they don't play defense at the level of intensity that Dollar like either. It is simply a program that is in a building phase.

Washington is going to come out and smother these guys from the onset just like they have the past two previous years. The players know each other, the players respect each other, and the players on both teams know that Washington is the better team. The Huskies have the psychological advantage over SU so there will be no surprises this year.

In the future I think the series will be interesting and relevant. Dollar has his program pointed in the right direction and he does know how to recruit. An annual chess game on the hardwoods between Romar and Dollar when the talent is more evenly divided is something to look forward to in years to come.

The Redhawks average around 4100 fans per game but a crowd in excess of 10,000 should be on hand for the game. That means there are around 7,000 good tickets available so if you want to go there will be no problem finding a good seat at the Key.
