Happy Pac 12 Championship Day

Looking through the comments this morning it looks like you guys are looking for some recruiting news. The coaches have been all over the West this week recruiting. No new commitments as of yet but things are starting to heat up.

So lets do a position by position by position run down to get everyone current.

QB - Cyler Miles and Jeff Lindquist - The Huskies are bring in two top 15 prospects. Both are very solid to UW.

RB - Tairen Owens and Erich Wilson - Look for the Dawgs to bring in two more. Keivarae Russell, Chris Brown, and Kelvin York are the top candidates UW is working on.

FB - Christian Powell visited last week and has the Huskies high on his list. Ryan McDaniel who could also end up at MLB also has UW at the top of his list.

WR - Michael Rector, Dwayne Washington, and Kendyl Taylor - You would think the Huskies would be full up at this position but they will take one more if the right guy wants to come. All three of the new guys coming in have the size and speed needed to make an impact along the way.

TE - It isn't a great year for TE's out West but Washington is trying to steal one from UCLA or Arizona by signing day. Ian Taubler is a name that comes to mind now that Neu has been fired.

OL - Nathan Dean - Washington would like to take five more. Most expect Auburn's Cody English to commit after his visit later this month. We keep hearing that Shane Brostek is a UW lock even though he visited Colorado recently. Zach Banner is taking visits but UW is still the favorite. Puyallup's Josh Garnett will pick between UW, Stanford, and Michigan. Matt Cochran will decide between UW and Cal. Jeremiah Poutasi will choose between UW and Utah. Lacy Westbrook who is committed to UCLA will take a long look at UW now that Neu has been fired.

DT - Azziz Shittu and Ellis McCarthy will visit. Marcel Andry from Louisiana is another kid who may possibly visit. Josh Tupou from Buena Park is a kid they are currently looking pretty hard at. Josh Banks is a JC that they have offered who visited last weekend.

DE - Malcolm Jackson and Kalei Aulea - Both of these kids have good size which gives UW something they have been lacking out on the end. The Huskies will take 2-3 more guys here. Damion Turpin from Dominguez HS is all but committed at this point. Pio Vatuvei and Samson Kafovalu have UW in their top two. Deforest Buckner who is a four star from Hawaii will visit. Alex Balducci from Portland is a guy they could always take a late run at.

LB - Blake Rodgers - The Huskies could use some beef here. Ryan McDaniel who is also being recruited to play FB would be a nice fit here. UW missed on Brett Bafaro earlier this year but that doesn't mean that they aren't still recruiting him.

CB - Brian Harper, Damontae Kazee, and Darien Washington - The Huskies will continue to load up here by taking another 2-3 athletes. The Dominguez duo of Brandon Beaver and Alphonzo Marsh have been rumored to be quiet commits at UW. The Huskies are also very much in the hunt for Pasadena Muir's Kevon Seymour.

S - Taylor Lagace and Jason Thompson - Jason Thompson could end up at a Big Sky school playing QB. Darien Washington could also be listed over here as a smaller safety. The Huskies could add one or two more here or just be finished depending on who is interested in coming. Shaq Thompson heads the wish list of a guy they would make room for. Randy Uzoma is a name to keep your eye on.

Kickers - Korey Durkee - The Huskies still need a place kicker. No name has surfaced yet but the coaches probably have a few kids in mind from the junior colleges. Durkee was very impressive punting the ball at the Dempsey earlier this year.

Coaching Carousel

Boise State head coach Chris Petersen has reportedly told UCLA that he isn't interested in becoming their next football coach.

Mark Coyle who was an asst. AD at Kentucky was named the new AD at Boise State yesterday.

Texas A&M head coach Mike Sherman has been fired. Houston's Kevin Sumlin is their first choice according to inside sources. The same sources are saying that Arizona State has already offered Sumlin the Sun Devil coaching job.
