Friday Wrap Up

Washington beat Arizona at home last night 85-68 in a game that was closer than the final score indicated. Washington controlled the action most of the night but the Wildcats remained within striking distance throughout the game.

Isaiah Thomas was once again the star for Washington leading the Dawgs with 22 points and 10 assists. Thomas has been prolific at the point since Abdul Gaddy went down with an injury two weeks ago. Matthew Bryan-Amaning had was also solid once again scoring 18 points and snaring 7 rebounds.

Up next for the Huskies is Arizona State on Saturday.

About Last Night

The quiet in recruiting ended last night when OT Stephan Nembot committed to Washington. Soon after that word came out from various sources on the Internet that CB Kameron Jackson had firmed up his commitment to Washington. The final good piece of news for the evening was that WR/CB Marvin Hall also committed to the Huskies. This is really good news because the three additions filled some crucial holes in the 2011 class.

What to expect today

CB Marcus Peters from McClymonds HS in Oakland is supposed to be picking between Washington and Oregon State today. Expect an announcement of his choice sometime this afternoon. His mind is made up now it is just a matter of making it official.

Update- QB Joseph Gray to SJSU

Joseph Gray has decided to attend San Jose State rather than Washington. The Huskies have continued to look at QB's and are bringing in two on visits this weekend. I think it is a smart move for Gray when it comes to getting early playing time.

Alaska Airlines Arena anyone?

Hec Edmundson Pavillion has a new name. Alaska Airlines has contracted with UW to become the new sponsor of the arena. The deal will give the athletic department $600,000 per year over five years.

This Weekend's Visitors

QB Jacoby Brissett will visit Washington starting Sunday according to various sources on the Internet. Brissett has  basketball game on Friday so that explains the unusual timing of his visit.

RB Bishop Sankey will decide between UW and WSU after this visit. The insiders are saying UW is in the drivers seat because of the relationship that has developed between coach Joel Thomas and Sankey.

QB Derrick Brown is a Utah commit who is looking around. The Huskies have two QB's visiting this weekend so it is obvious they want to take two this year. Scout has him as a three star. He has good size and is an intriguing prospect.

S Travis Feeney is an Arizona commit and I can't find much information on him. Scout has him rated as a two star.

LB Matthew Lyons, WR Josh Perkins, and OLB Scott Lawyer all committed earlier this year and will also be visiting this weekend.

(Keep an eye on this list throughout the day. There is a possibility of 2-3 more names being added.)
