UCLA gave the boot to the three incoming freshmen who were involved in the theft of a purse/backpack on campus last week. The three face felony charges for allegedly stealing a female student's backpack that contained contents worth about $1,200. A review of on campus video surveillance caught them in the act.
WR Paul Richardson, DB Shaquille Richardson and LB Joshua Shirley could return to the team in January if they meet certain requirements set by Coach Neuheisel and the UCLA Dean of Students.
"Whether they are allowed to enroll for winter quarter will be determined at a later date," Neuheisel continued. "That decision will be based on several factors, including their behavior."
It is a huge loss for UCLA. All three players were ranked among the top 100 in the country and were expected to contribute right away this season.
