The Final Line : Washington 33 Stanford 31

So everyone is picking Stanford to win right?

Not so fast!

Washington has been alternating wins and losses each week this season so why buck that trend now? Phil Steele who is one of the best prognosticators in the country is picking Washington.

I’ll call for the Huskies to keep their “Jekyll and Hyde” routine going with an upset here as they have faced the 2nd toughest schedule in the country.

Washington matches up pretty well with Stanford even though the Cardinal are the better team on paper. They aren't nearly as fast as Nebraska, Arizona, and Oregon so I think the Huskies have a better chance of keeping the game close and in control.

Jake is as healthy as he is ever going to be this week. If we can keep him in a mobile pocket I think he has the ability to pick apart a weak Stanford secondary. A steady diet of Chris Polk to the tune of 20-25 carries would also be nice and would help keep Andrew Luck on the bench.

You can't upset the 13th ranked team in the country if your defense isn't performing. Washington put together six pretty good quarters in a row before they ran into Arizona last weekend. Stanford is an easier team to figure out. That doesn't mean they are easy to stop but you know they are going to run the ball right at you.

This is the type of game that is tailor made for Alameda Ta'amu. He is pretty good at plugging the middle and stopping the run. If he can disrupt the Stanford running game it could help lead the way to victory. He is going to need help from freshman Sione Potoae who is getting his first start at the three technique..

Andrew Luck is one of the best QB's in the nation and if he has as much time as Matt Scott did last week it could be a long day for the Husky defense. Washington needs to figure out how to get some pressure on him.
