Catching up

RB Lache Seastrunk who is one of the top ten players in the nation has decided to become an Oregon Duck. The Temple, Texas native spurned the Big 12 looking for the right fit on the West coast and picked the Ducks over USC, Cal, and UCLA. Seastrunk seemed headed to USC until Pete Carroll left for the Seahawks. This was a major coup for Oregon who has been striking out nationally as of late.

The Eugene police continue to investigate the theft of computer equiptment from a campus fraternity house. No word on if Jeremiah Masoli will be charged with anything as of yet. The Oregon athletic department has been quiet so far waiting for the other shoe to drop.

Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times had a great conversation today with recruiting guru Tom Lemming that he posted in his blog. Bob is doing a yeoman job in gathering the opinions of recruiting experts from around the country concerning Washington's 2010 class.

Asked what he likes about UW's class, Lemming said: "They've just got talent at every single spot, every single position, that's what really stands out. It's one of the more well-balanced classes in the country and a very athletic one, too. That's something that Washington is not used to getting. They haven't really had a class like this since Neuheisel. But now they've got to follow it up with another great class. That's how you get back to the top, have two or three in a row. But they've got the coaches to get it done. They've got very good recruiters.''

With only a week to go till signing day Washington's class looks pretty solid and the word out of Montlake is that they will not be signing any Plan B types to round out the class. The Huskies are currently focusing on DT Kirifi Taula, DT Ricky Heimuli, LB Josh Shirley, S Sean Parker, and S Jeremy Ioane.

At most Washington will sign 2-3 more players. They could also end up standing pat if they don't close on the known players left on the list. However this is stealing season (just ask Jeremiah Masoli) and it is always hard to guess who the coaches are talking to.

One guy that has been mentioned is DE Scott Chrichton from Foss HS in Tacoma. Crichton is a sleeper who had offers from WSU and OSU. He has verbaled to OSU but rumors are floating that Oregon and Washington are taking a closer look and may offer.

Kirfi Taula committed to the coaches but his parents want him to follow through with a visit to Arizona this coming weekend. Washington made a strong impression on him and his mother would like him to go to UW. We should have a better idea by Sunday night on which way this one is going to go.

Sean Parker is down to USC, Michigan, and Washington. I read over on the Michigan site that it was now down to Michigan and USC. We won't find out till signing day when he announces because he isn't giving anyone clues about where he is headed at this point.

Ioane is headed to Notre Dame this weekend along with Kona Schwenke. The Irish have offered both and are now the favorites to close them this weekend.

Josh Shirley is scheduled to visit Miami this weekend. The Canes along with UW, Arizona, and USC are the finalists for his services.

Ricky Heimuli is scheduled to visit this weekend and it looks like unless there is a surprise he will be the only official visitor at Montlake this weekend. Chris Young could also be on the list if he took care of his SAT last week. tough to say where Heimuli is leaning right now but UW getting the last visit has to help.
