We have never run a game thread on a high school football game before but because this one is going to be on national television and involves a number of players we are all interested in this is a good time to do it.
Most of us would usually be rooting for Skyline since they are a Seattle area high school but since all world QB Jake Heaps spurned UW for BYU most of us would like to see a nice performance out of Oaks Christian. Oaks Christian features two future Huskies in QB Nick Montana and OT Erik Koehler. I think most of us would like to see Montana outperform Heaps tonight.
Skyline has another player of interest by the name of Kasen Williams. Williams who is a junior is one of the top WR's in the 2011 class. Both his parents went and played athletics at Washington. You would think he would be a Washington lock but not so fast...schools such as Florida have offered him scholarships so he is going to take his time figuring out where he wants to go to school.
The game starts at 7:00 PM Seattle time and will be broadcast on ESPNU.
KJR-AM will also be doing the game on the radio with Hugh Millen providing the analysis.
"I love the support up there," Montana said, speaking of the Huskies fans in the stands. "I saw a lot of purple and gold. It was a fun night. We came in here and to go against a team with guys like Jake, it's a great win. Obviously this is a good team and they gave us a run for our money."
