Washington takes on Arizona State in a rematch with a team they have beaten twice this season. ASU is very capable of beating the Huskies if Washington plays the way they did last night against Stanford. Despite the double digit victory it was the worst performance in a month for the Dawgs.
In the night cap UCLA takes on USC in a final battle for city supremancy. UCLA seems to be hitting on all cylinders right now if last nights game against WSU was any indication. The Trojans are trying to play their way back into a NCAA tournament berth.
Before the tournament began the Pac 10 had hopes that as many as six teams would be invited to the big dance. As of now it looks like only 4-5 will make it in with Arizona getting knocked out early, the Cougs crashing, and USC needing a win over the Bruins to advance.
USC kept alive its NCAA tournament hopes with a hardworking 65-55 victory over rival UCLA in the semifinals of the Pac-10 tournament. The victory was the first in three tries for USC against the 15th-ranked Bruins this season, and it came at a time of urgent need.
A loss likely would have knocked USC out of the NCAA field.
The Trojans, the No. 6 seed in the tournament, knocked off the second-seeded Bruins by playing all-out defense and stifling a UCLA team that has struggled in many spotlight games this season.
USC (20-12) plays Arizona State in the championship game today. The prize is an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
