Nineteen seniors play for last time at Montlake

It will be bittersweet on Saturday as 19 seniors hit the Montlake turf for the last time. You have to hope that their will be some type of an emotional boost for these kids who for the most part were recruitied by Rick Neuheisel and signed later in the year by Keith Gilbertson after Neuheisel was fired during the summer.

You really have to consider "what if" with this last class which was rated among the top 15 in the country on signing day five long years ago. Too many of these kids played early. To many of the kids they were signed never made it in to school. For example this would have been Matt Tuiasosopo's, and Keanteau Bankhead's senior year.

Despite the defections quite a few were still excited by this class. Don James thought it was the strongest group of linemen he had seen on campus in quite some time. He felt they passed the eye test. Instead of dominating this class never developed and even regressed this season as far as performance goes.

On Saturday they show up one last time to try to steal a victory against a meager UCLA squad. Once again I give the pathetic squad a two TD margin for victory even though this is the weakest UCLA team this half of the decade. I predict UW scores less than ten points and the Bruins score in the high twenties. Let's hope I am wrong and this team fires up one last time in their last appearance in Husky Stadium.
