WR Brayden Dickey announces transfer out of Washington football

105

In a move not surprising to many, Washington receiver Brayden Dickey (Lenius) will transfer. The senior receiver will qualify as a graduate transfer and have one year to play one season at whatever school he lands at.

Dickey was part of a receiving group that struggled in 2017. As UW's lone receiver over six feet tall, there were high hopes that he would emerge as a significant contributor and help fill the gap left behind after John Ross departed the program. However, Dickey only managed just 9 receptions on the season for 89 yards and no touchdowns

This move will help free up yet another precious scholarship on a roster that is still in flux. The Huskies signed 19 players in the recent "early" signing period and are expected to add at least a few more players through recruiting or transfers before fall camp.

DT Ricky McCoy to transfer to Fresno State

Husky reserve defensive tackle Ricky McCoy today announced that he is transferring from Washington to Fresno State. McCoy was a lightly used reserve who would be going into his junior season. He'll have to sit out a year and will have one year to play one in Fresno. The loss of McCoy leaves UW with just two scholarship defensive tackles going into the 2018 season. Greg Gaines has announced that he will return for his senior year while true freshman Sam Taimani signed during UW's early signing period. Other linemen such as Levi Onwuzurike and Jaylen Johnson figure to get more reps inside with Benning Potoa'e a potential candidate for a position change. We will have more analysis on the implication of UW roster changes as news develops.

Report: UW QB K.J. Carta-Samuels to Transfer

22

Steve Wiltfong at 247sports.com is reporting that Washington backup QB K.J. Carta-Samuels will transfer for his final year of eligibility. He is set to graduate at the end of winter quarter and so would be immediately eligible as a grad transfer and available for spring ball for his new program. There’s no early indication of where he might go but the fact that his QB coach and OC in Jonathan Smith just accepted the head coaching job at Oregon State, where there isn’t a clear cut #1 QB, certainly hints at one possibility.
