Washington extends scholarship offers to Rainier Beach 2014 F Djuan Piper and 2015 G David Crisp

so you listen here - Joe Nicholson-USA TODAY Sports

Lorenzo Romar started the new year off by extending offers to two local players from Rainier Beach. A Rainier Beach assistant coach responded in laughter.

"Build a fence around the state of Washington." "Keep the local-grown talent home." Those two phrases are oft-used by fans to describe how to be successful in the world of recruiting. UW fotball fans liked to add another cattle reference, "Where's the Beef?"

Lorenzo Romar is doing his best to keep the local talent home, extending offers to two Rainier Beach players.

Djuan Piper is a forward who is currently a senior at Rainier Beach. Apparently he had never spoken to Washington at all before the offer.

About the only scouting report that I see about Piper is a quick tweet by Liebeskind saying that he is a long and athletic wing, in the typical Romar mold. He is a two star recruit across the board, which means that he hasn't been scouted, most of the time.

David Crisp is a 2015 point guard, currently a junior. He was originally a 2014 recruit, but reclassified to 2015. I don't know how someone would go about reclassifying, and getting another year in high school, but he did, and it happens commonly. Liebeskind says that he is athletic and a good shooter. Also, he is a two star recruit. He may get more attention during his senior season. When he was offered... this happened (David King coaches at Rainier Beach):

I don't know what this means.

This could be a ploy to get 2015 shooting guard Dejounte Murray, also from Rainier Beach. Murray is a consensus four star recruit. Remember why Justin Holiday was recruited? He has a little brother by the name of Jrue who was a very high-level recruit.

The 2014 class already has transfer guard Quevyn Winters, along with incoming freshmen forwards Tristian Etienne and Donaven Dorsey.
