I really don't want to be mean about this, because I feel kinda bad that Washington is even playing Idaho State, but the Bengals are probably the worst football team that the Huskies have faced in the modern era. Washington hadn't ever played a Division I-AA (now known as Division I-FCS) team until just a few years ago.
But, just to be clear, this isn't just any FCS team. This is a really horrendous one. How bad?
Starting with the 2008 season Idaho State is 8-50 overall (0.160 winning percentage) and that includes the 2-0 start this season. Incredibly, even that record probably overstates how well they have played. Of those eight victories, four of them came to Division II teams (Dixie State, Black Hills State, and Western State twice) and one of them came over an NAIA team (Montana Western). So in that period the team was won exactly three games against teams in Division I.
I'm really not trying to be a jerk by pointing this all out, I just wanted to forestall anybody making comparisons between Idaho State and North Dakota State or one of the other FCS schools that has pulled an upset over a ranked FBS opponent.
