The Opening: Erik Brown Commits to Washington

Otto Greule Jr

The Huskies look to keep their recruiting momentum going as Erik Brown, a 4 star receiver and one of the top on the west coast, will make a verbal commitment tonight. UW is one of his finalists.

Erik Brown will announce his commitment at The Opening this evening. The show is scheduled to air at 6 Pacific on ESPNU, and there are a handful of other players announcing their intentions on the show at that time as well, so it's anybody's guess when Brown will actually make his verbal. No other players announcing tonight are expected to choose UW.

Most pundits are saying that Brown will make his commitment to UW public tonight, with speculation that he has either been committed to the Huskies silently for some time now, or that he was committed at one point and backed off briefly. The consensus is that it's down to UW and UCLA, but again, UW is said to be ahead in this one.

If Brown should decide to don the purple and the gold, UW would likely be set in it's 2014 class at the wide receiver position with Rashead Johnson, another 4 star prospect, already committed.

If you aren't near a TV or don't have ESPNU or are mobile, we'll have his commitment news here and on twitter.

Update: As expected, Brown has committed to the Huskies:
